Commitment
Where Can I Get Some?
Commitment. It’s one word that I find myself lacking in. Sure, I have it sometimes for some things, but maybe not as much as I would like. I’m not saying it makes things great, but I am saying that if I committed to one camera, one lens, one film stock, and one developer for an extended period of time it would probably feel pretty good. It would be the equivalent of waking up every morning and throwing on a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. There would be very little to think about other than doing and thinking is one of the downfalls of my lack of commitment.
The thing is I really question if I have what it takes to make a commitment like the one that I’ve mentioned above. I reckon I could pull a Nike and “just do it,” but then my mind would inevitably get in the way. The “what if’s” would start to seep in. What if the light isn’t right? What if I can’t get close enough? What if I can’t get far enough away? I guess a simple solution would be to adapt and overcome, but I’m not ready to adapt and overcome. I’m not ready for commitment. I’ll leave that to other people.
Not one camera.
Not one lens.
Not one film stock.
Not all film.
Just random shots from here and there that have something in common. I’m sure you can figure it out.
Don't ask me why I have burned these images to emulsions and memory cards. I don't have a good answer. I just did it and I will continue to do it. I guess that's the only commitment that I can make. Keep on doing it.
Cheers,
George

Man, this is a lovely series with some fabulous images that really showcase your eye. I particularly love the big shot of the building and it's slightly out of character for you but it is so strong. Of course, the bus theme hits hard and it's one that's in our faces a lot. It was interesting to see that the big brick bus stop was actually a consistent style of making the stops... I do wonder what's the history of that and when it started and stopped. Only a couple left here and there. Must be a 70s-80s thing.
Bench seating. That’s the common theme. I just know it.
Or is it… is it ways you travelled to the corn festivals?
